Rep Diane Black FAILS Small Government Test!

Republican Congressman Diane Black (TN-6) has failed a small-government litmus test. In fact, when her voting record is carefully analyzed her score is that of 71% or "F"

Given the fact that she voted for pork and waste, more spending, and more debt, it's no wonder she FAILS as a legislator.

Rep Stephen Fincher (TN-8) actually did WORSE than Diane Black.

The results of the test were just released today, here are the details:

TN Republicans to give Obama YOUR healthcare records! …. (unless you stop them)

Republicans in the Tennessee legislature are about to give Obama access to your healthcare records!

The Tennessee Senate already voted unanimously to give Obama and the federal bureaucracy access to the state-wide prescription database WITHOUT A WARRANT** -- This means Obama and the Feds will know every prescription you are taking and can glean almost any information about your health!

You CAN stop the TN Republican establishment from handing over your records to Obama and the Feds, but you MUST ACT NOW before it comes to a vote in the State House on Wednesday May 25th!

____________________________

You MUST call Speaker Beth Harwell and tell her "NO to House Bill #2569"!

Also you MUST call your State House Representative and tell them to "VOTE NO on 2569", you don't want the government to be able to snoop around your records without a warrant**

Find your State House Rep here.
Here is a list of ALL of their e-mail addresses

And while you're at it, be sure to let your State Senators know you don't appreciate them voting to give Obama and the Feds your most personal and intimate healthcare records

Obamacare killed in TN (for now…)

Thanks in large part to your e-mails The TN Campaign for Liberty has played a major role in stopping ObamaCare from creeping into Tennessee!

Earlier this week we informed you about a 'hush-hush' effort to set up an Obamacare "insurance exchange" in Tennessee. The bill was withdrawn after the sponsor, Rep. Charles Michael Sargent from Williamson County, received many e-mails and personal visits urging him to do so!

BUT DON'T REST EASY...

There are rumors that Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, at the behest of Governor Haslam, will try and ram it down our throats AFTER the election in November when the politicians are safe from getting thrown out of office: http://wpln.org/?p=32442

Stay vigilant, there is more to come on this issue later in the year.

Obamacare slithering in the back door of TN!

Obamacare is slithering into Tennessee thru the back door!

Last week an innocent-looking bill was mysteriously and discreetly filed in the TN Assembly which attempts to lay the groundwork to bring Obamacare into Tennessee! The establishment is attempting to "sneak" Obamacare in without a fight under the guise of something called an "insurance exchange". Essentially they are trying to let Obama regulate health insurance in Tennessee behind your back.

The Governor has ALREADY accepted money from the federal government to start this program!!!

Please call the sponsor of this bill and tell them to KILL THE BILL!!! (HB-2839)

Senator Corker Flip-Flops While Running For Re-Election

Senator Corker has flip-flopped.

He voted for the bailouts previously earning the moniker "Bailout Bob"...

But now Bob Corker is against bailouts because he is running for re-election as evidenced from his recent press release: http://corker.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=News&ContentRecord_id=7321a04f-5866-45f9-879e-72df2ff9094c

Gay sex and bestiality in the military? Senators Corker and Alexander approve!

Republican Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander unknowingly voted to allow gay sex and bestiality in the military last week!

Political experts note that they probably did not even read the bill and would have likely voted against it if they had known that provision was included.

Regardless of how one feels about these issues, their haphazard approach to voting for legislation without reading it is deeply disturbing and largely indicative of the attitude of the modern political class.

TN Senators Allow Obama To Hold US Citizens Without Trial Indefinitely (Corker + Alexander)

The two Republican Senators from Tennessee voted in favor of allowing President Obama to imprison US citizens  indefinitely without trial on Tuesday the 29th of February. The amendment to remove the Constitutionally offensive section of the bill was proposed to the National Defense Authorization Act and voted down 38-60. The only Republicans voting for the removal of the "indefinite detainment" section of the bill were Senators Rand Paul (KY) and Mark Kirk (IL)

More details of the bill and amendment itself can be found at this earlier blog post: http://tncampaignforliberty.org/wordpress/2011/11/senator-rand-paul-aims-to-kill-indefinte-detention-in-dod-bill/

TN Senators Vote To Continue Iraq Occupation (Corker + Alexander)

The two Republican Senators from Tennessee voted in favor of continued US occupation in Iraq Tuesday the 29th of February. Senator Rand Paul introduced an amendment to a bill which would have effectively ended the occupation of Iraq by US military forces.

The Senate defeated the measure 31-66 with only Senator Paul and only 3 other Republican Senators voting in favor of ending the Iraq occupation; surprisingly Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) voted in the affirmative with Senator Paul. Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker unsurprisingly voted for continual occupation by voting against Senator Paul's amendment.

Senator Rand Paul aims to kill “indefinite detention” section of DoD bill

Senator Rand Paul has submitted an Amendment to Senate Bill 1867 (known as the National Defense Authorization Act) which would strike the section of the bill that allows the US government to indefinitely detain individuals without trial or due process. The Amendment is #1062 and would eliminate Section 1031 which states:

"Congress affirms that the authority of the President to use all necessary and appropriate force...includes the authority for the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons...Detention under the law of war without trial"

This Amendment to strike Section 1031 was submitted by Senator Paul as soon as the bill came forward. There are other similar Amendments too, however none of them completely eliminate the Constitutionally offensive section. You can view Senator Paul's submission of the Amendment here: http://www.TNCampaignForLiberty.org/misc/ndaaAmendment_Sec1031.pdf

Diane Black Votes For More Spending Again!

Last week Congresswoman Diane Black (R-TN) voted to spend an additional $182 billion funding various government agencies for fiscal 2012. The funding was produced by a joint committee with the Senate over the resistance of some Texans and other conservative House Republicans. Her vote to spend this money comes at a time when the government’s budget crisis is on it’s way to reaching a climax as spending levels are already at an all time high.

Many political observers consider this a poor decision on her part since she is likely vulnerable among not just Tea Partiers but activists within her own party. One prominent local Republican official in her district speaking on condition of anonymity noted “her votes so far to raise spending, increase the debt, voting for pork-laden bills, and past questionable family business deals have given a lot of the local GOP serious pause about supporting her re-election bid. In short, many of us feel she has betrayed the principles of the Party”

Senator Lamar Alexander from Tennessee voted for this spending increase as also.

TSA Checkpoints Now On TN Highways

WATCH THIS VIDEO:
"TSA Checkpoints on Highways In TN"

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security on Tuesday partnered with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and several other federal and state agencies for a safety enforcement and awareness operation on Tennessee’s interstates and two metropolitan-area bus stations. They are randomly inspecting vehicles on highways in Tennessee.

The random inspections really aren't any more thorough normal, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott who says paying attention to details can make a difference.

"People generally associate the TSA with airport security...but now we have moved on to other forms of transportation, such as highways, buses and railways," said Kevin McCarthy, TSA federal security director for West Tennessee.

To increase national security, the TSA created Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response, known as VIPR, teams, which consist of federal air marshals, surface transportation security inspectors, transportation security officers, behavior detention officers and explosive detection canine teams.

McCarthy also pointed out that Interstate 40 is one of the country's a major thoroughfares, being the third longest major west-east interstate highway in the United States after Interstate 90 and Interstate 80. Interstate 40's western end is in Barstow, Calif. and its eastern end is in Wilmington, N.C.

This is not a surprise considering Tampa, FL bus stations have long been occupied by TSA checkpoints forcing random searches.

Gov Haslam Pushes For Internet Sales Tax

Speaking recently at the onset of an agreement between the Tennessee government and Amazon.com Governor Haslam continues to push for a national sales tax on items purchased over the Internet. But this wasn't the first time he had publicly mentioned it.

Here are Governor Haslam's words from last week:

"Amazon will begin to collect sales tax [in Tennessee] in just over 2 years unless a national solution [sales tax] is addressed first. I look forward to working with Amazon ... and other retailers on finding that national [sales tax] solution."

Governor Haslam Caught In A Lie

While it might seem like a minor "white lie", if Governor Haslam is willing to lie about something like this, what else is he willing to lie about?

"Gov. Bill Haslam has added a new detail to his oft-told anecdote about his wife Crissy's high school boyfriend.

He is acknowledging the story isn't true...

Reporters who noticed differences in Haslam's telling of the story asked the Republican governor Tuesday if the tale was true. Haslam immediately responded with a laugh that Ernie isn't real.

Haslam said he's uncertain about the origin of the anecdote, but suggested might have been first told by former President Bill Clinton."

Governor Haslam's family business, Pilot Oil Company, has been given the "ok" by Governor Haslam to lobby the State government AGAINST privatizing services which could save the taxpayers millions of dollars.

Could there indeed be possible corruption?

Sheriffs First Legislation & Gibson Guitar

Have you heard about the raid on the Gibson Guitar factory by the Feds?
If not briefly read this article.

We can do something about it and prevent the Feds from doing this sort of thing again in the future.

But the solution IS NOT FEDERAL, the solution is LOCAL!

A bill has been introduced in the TN Legislature that will stop Federal law enforcement from violating the Constitution in Tennessee.

But it is up to US to push this bill through!!!

Generally speaking the bill provides that a federal employee may not make an arrest or conduct a search and seizure in this state without the written permission of the Sheriff of the county in which the arrest, search and seizure will take place.

Read the details here:
http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1108

Effort on the federal level is futile. We must do this ourselves in Tennessee. But it will take every liberty, teaparty, conservative group in Tennessee to get this to pass. And we still may not win. But we must keep trying until it is passed. However I do have a plan that we can implement that will push this front and center.

SO THE QUESTION IS, WILL YOU HELP US IN THIS FIGHT?

TN Republicans fund Planned Parenthood (and then LIE about it)!!!

EXPLOSIVE COVER-UP IN TENNESSEE REPUBLICAN POLITICS!!!

A Republican State Senator in Tennessee used taxpayer dollars to secretly (and possibly even illegally) FUND Planned Parenthood one of the largest provider of abortions in the country earlier this year! And then the rest of the Republicans scrambled to cover up the identity of which Republican did this --- Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is at the top of the scandal. Even though this story is a few months old we thought it pertinent to let you know what happened.

Ken Marrero, blogger at Blue Collar Muse, has some good write ups about it.
Be sure to read them in order:

http://bluecollarmuse.com/2011/05/26/tennessee-legislator-secretly-alters-final-state-budget-bill/

http://blogs.knoxnews.com/humphrey/2011/06/with-planned-parenthood-defund.html

The Republicans in Tennessee are STILL hiding and protecting the guilty Republican Senator who set out to secretly change the law and fund Planned Parenthood in the dark of night, though this funding has since been reversed. But Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is not just complacent in this cover-up he is the one orchestrating it!!! Even if one is not pro-life one can still see how dangerous it is to allow laws to be introduced secretly without any accountability. And the blatant cover-up by the Republican Party and Ron Ramsey is disturbing too.

Please contact Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey and DEMAND to know which Senator secretly changed the law to use taxpayer dollars to fund Planned Parenthood in Tennessee!

Lt. Gov Ron Ramsey’s Cronyism & Corruption (Part II): Raises For His Friends?

According to this news report released last week Lt Governor Ron Ramsey gave several of his legislative staffers hefty raises recently even while the entire economy was tanking and the state government was facing a budget crisis.

What is conservative about that?!?!?

If this isn't blatant cronyism and corruption, then what is? What's worse is his arrogant stance and condescending demeanor when asked about this in the video at the link below. Is that how a humble servant who works for the People should treat his constituents?

Is Lt. Gov Ron Ramsey Corrupt With Congresswoman Diane Black? (DNA Bill)

An interesting development...

Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey's recent bill to forcefully steal DNA from innocent individuals was introduced into the TN Legislature a few weeks ago. Of course this bill has serious Constitutional issues, but that aside, following the money trail causes one to ask if the Lt. Governor is being corrupted by Congresswoman Diane Black and her husband's successful medical testing company?

Here are the FACTS easily laid out (but don't take our word for it, do your own research):

1-Lt Governor Ron Ramsey introduced a bill to steal DNA by force from innocent individuals and then store the DNA records in a government database : http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB0257&ga=107

2-Congresswoman Diane Black's husband, David Black, owns Aegis labs which is a very lucrative, entrenched, and politically connected corporation (it employs Bill Frist): http://www.aegislabs.com/About_Aegis

3-Aegis labs specializes in forensics and law enforcement crime lab testing, etc holding multiple government contracts. Congresswoman Diane Black's husband's company could potentially stand to vastly increase their revenue at the expense of taxpayers if this bill passes: http://politics.nashvillepost.com/?s=aegis

4-Congresswoman Diane Black's husband, David Black, has given thousands of $$ to Lt Governor Ron Ramsey's campaigns: http://www.state.tn.us/tref/

Hmmm.... Do you think there could possibly be a connection here?

Besides Lt Governor Ron Ramsey's blatant disregard for the Constitution's prohibition on unreasonable search and seizure, despite Lt Governor Ron Ramsey's sidestepping of serious questions about the bill, despite Lt Governor Ron Ramsey's inability to explain the necessity and Constitutionality of this bill, one has to wonder if Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey has introduced this bill at the direction of one of his major donating families, Diane and David Black?

Furthermore, other questions about this DNA-grabbing bill linger --
Was there any quid-pro-quo?
Is Lt Governor Ron Ramsey the puppet of Congresswoman Diane Black and her husband's mega corporation?
Did the Lt Governor take a "legal" bribe?
How much money would Congresswoman Diane Black and her husband potentially profit from the passage of this bill?
Is Lt Governor Ron Ramsey simply paying back Aegis and the Black family for generous campaign contributions by introducing this bill?
Have any ethics violations transpired by either Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey or Congresswoman Diane Black?

If this issue concerns you, then you should call the Lt Governor and ask him these questions yourself!
And while you have him on the phone you should tell him to yank the big-government statist Obama-like DNA bill he has introduced (SB257).

HERE IS HOW TO CONTACT HIM:
Personal cell phone: 423-340-8700 (leave a voice mail - if it's full, call back the next day or later in the night)

DNA bill scandal possibly uncovered in TN?

Opposition against Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey's DNA bill is growing by leaps and bounds!

A piece on TN Post Politics was JUST posted about it:
http://politics.nashvillepost.com/2011/03/01/examining-your-dna-rights
(please visit the link above and leave your comments -- you can do so anonymously if you should choose)

Recently uncovered, Congresswoman Diane Black's husband's company, Aegis medical testing, is on the state dole. In recent times Aegis received well in excess of $630,000 from the State of Tennessee for "services rendered". Their company Aegis also received over $61,000 from the government in the forms of "grants and subsidies". Must be nice to have built-in business with the government?
SOURCE: http://tn.gov/opengov/vendors/vpfy/index.html

The profits that were pocketed by David Black from Aegis medical testing were then used to fund Lt. Ron Ramsey's campaigns.
SOURCE: http://www.state.tn.us/tref/

It's quite possible that if Ron Ramsey's DNA bill passes, Congresswoman Diane Black and her husband could potentially stand to vastly increase their revenue from the government by getting even more lucrative government contracts for Aegis testing. One political observer called this the "worst bill of the year" not only due to the potential corruption, but due to the absolute violation of individual rights as guaranteed by the TN and US Constitutions. Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is trying to forcefully steal DNA from those who are innocent.

You should call and e-mail Lt Governor Ron Ramsey and ask him to specifically name, other than government agencies, who has been lobbying for the passage of this bill? He has sidestepped this question in the past.

"Rand Paul may be one of the only politicians I agree with and trust." (--- Glenn Beck )

If the midterm elections were a declaration of war on the status quo, Rand Paul leads the battle charge. Voters fearful of growing government and debt have found voice in the Tea Party phenomenon and the movement continues to deliver a message that Washington, D.C. has found impossible to ignore.

In THE TEA PARTY GOES TO WASHINGTON, the newly elected senator and self-described "constitutional conservative" explains why his party has to stand by its limited government rhetoric and why the federal government must be stuffed back into its constitutional box. Given the problems our nation faces, these are not mere suggestions, but moral imperatives.

Say NO to Beth Harwell for Speaker of the TN House!

Representative Harwell has often voted against liberty. In the recent election she supported a 20 year incumbent big-government Democrat. The gun show promoter and fellow Tennessean Bob Pope, has called Representative Harwell “a RINO, Republican in Name Only”. He has also said of her that “she is no conservative, she is no supporter of the second amendment, and  she is the only Republican in the state house to have never voted yes on ANY pro-second amendment bill.”. You can see everything Mr. Pope says about Representative Beth Harwell here. (we would link to her voting record, but "conveniently" the TN legislature has removed all voting records from their website). Other tea partiers in TN are opposing her as well.

We cannot allow Representative Beth Harwell to become the next speaker here in Tennessee. Her voting record shows that she will NOT be a friend of liberty, the Constitution, or limited government.

The vote to decide the next house speaker will be on Thursday the 18th. Please call your state representative today and demand that they vote against Beth Harwell for speaker. The number is 615-741-7450 - ask to be connected to your representative. If you would rather e-mail your representative, you can do so here: http://www.legislature.state.tn.us/districtmaps/

Diane Black voted for pork and waste

Congresswoman Diane Black voted for wasting $3 billion dollars on a pork project in Speaker John Boehner’s Ohio district. This project was an unnecessary and unneeded engine built by GE (who happens to own MS/NBC); every branch of the United States military AND even the Bush administration said it was a complete waste. She refused to vote to pull its funding thereby condoning the continuation of this pork project.

Watch this brief 2 minute video about the engine and why it isn't needed:

Tea Party REJECTS Diane Black (R-TN) [w/ VIDEO]

The local tea parties and conservatives have REJECTED big-government Republican Diane Black especially after her recent move to take the country into more debt by voting to raise the debt ceiling.

Read this article and watch the video of the recent conservative protest outside her office. You can tell they are ready to kick her big-government largesse to the curb:
http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110817/NEWS02/308170131/Tea-party-protesters-slam-Diane-Black-debt-vote?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

And just to be fair here is her lame attempt at trying to spin this rejection in her favor (and failing miserably at it).... no one is buying what she is trying to sell: http://wpln.org/?p=29649

Granted she is allegedly trying to have her Congressional district gerrymandered in her favor, and her personal wealth may just be enough for her to buy her re-election. However several political experts have noted that she is exceptionally vulnerable to a conservative primary challenge from the right if one were to arise.

Feds may seize your guitar!!! (Feds Raid TN Guitar Manufacturer Gibson Guitars)!!!

Here is the latest stunt by the federal thugs...

ARMED FEDERAL AGENTS RAIDED GIBSON GUITARS IN NASHVILLE AND MEMPHIS BECAUSE GIBSON ALLEGEDLY USED "UNAUTHORIZED" WOOD !!!!!!

What's worse is that if you own a guitar with this specific type of 'unauthorized' wood, the Feds could seize your guitar too!!!

You are not going to believe how far the federal government has taken this.

Here are the details on this developing situation:

What can you do about it?

The Tennessee Campaign for Liberty would like to oppose laws such as this, especially on the State level. The General Assembly in Tennessee can nullify federal laws that they believe are unconstitutional or contrary to liberty.

If you would like to help us fight the federal government by working to get the TN General Assembly to nullify federal laws such as this, then please contribute to the TN Campaign for Liberty warchest: https://secure.campaignforliberty.com/contribute.php?for=TN

With your generous contribution we can help stop actions such as this blatant example of federal tyranny!

Republicans tell Tea Party: “Get your ass in line”!!!

Republican Speaker John "Bailout" Boehner recently held a meeting where he told Tea Party Congressmen to "get your ass in line" with Obama about the debt ceiling compromise. Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor told the new Tea Party Congressmen "to quit whining" about the debt ceiling compromise. And finally Republican Senator John McCain mocked the Tea Party by calling them "hobbits".

HAVE YOU contacted your Congressmen to demand that they WON'T vote to raise the debt ceiling?

Like NetFlix? Go to jail in TN now…

Do you like NetFlix for watching movies?

Do you know that if you share your Netflix password in TN you could now actually face JAIL TIME?!!?

That's right!
The Tennessee legislature in conjunction with Governor Haslam bowed to pressure of the dinosaur media companies (who probably donated heavily to their campaigns) to not only make it a crime to share your password, but making the punishment so severe that you could go to jail for doing so.

Do we actually live in a free society?!!

Here are the details of this new law:
http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110602/NEWS/306020033/Netflix-sharing-will-crime-TN?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

Now of course no one is disputing that these services and content providers need a way to ensure they are not being "ripped off" however traditionally these sort of issues simply involved a lawsuit or fine against the perpetrators. Actually throwing an individual in jail for this type of activity is not only absurd, it's a waste of taxpayer dollars.

TN Citizens Try To Abolish Their City Government!

Citizens in a local town here in Tennessee are trying to ABOLISH their city government!

This is one of the most encouraging stories of free individuals pushing back against tyrannical encroachment since the McMinn County War of 1946 --  look it up! (also known as the Battle of Athens, TN)

Government in LaVergne, TN recently raised property taxes on their citizens by 100%, raised the water/utility rate by 40%, and also raised the sewage rate by 60%. Is it any wonder their residents want to do away with them? Here is the full story of a peoples' recent struggle against oppressive taxation that is taking place right next door to you: http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110630/NEWS/306290120/2275/RSS05

This is an important lesson especially as we celebrate Independence Day. The Declaration of Independence had a central theme, and that is that the right of man shall be to overthrow, abolish, alter, or leave (secede) any government that does not uphold the rights of the individual. In that very spirit, the People of LaVergne, TN are trying to abolish the government which is oppressing them. Each of us should take notice and ask ourselves how we can fight back against big and oppressive government in our own communities?

While these sort of pushbacks against government misbehavior are rare and often isolated, the norm is unfortunately quite the opposite. In fact, to remind you of how government typically behaves here is an expanded list of even more big-government laws the recent Republican-controlled legislature has passed into effect on July 1: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/jun/30/scoffing-at-laws-will-pay-a-price/?partner=RSS

So ask yourself, what are you doing to help restrain government and further liberty?

New TN laws go into effect!

According to a recent press release by the TN Republican Senate Caucus, many new state laws go into effect on Thursday July 1, 2011..... so much for making the government smaller. Some of their release is below with added commentary in caps; we have made efforts to remove or correct as much of their subterfuge as possible... Keep in mind these are only the laws they are publicly touting, if anyone knows of a complete list of which bills becomes active Thursday please e-mail us back and let us know.

"Dangerous laws created by well intentioned people today can be used by dangerous people with evil intentions tomorrow.” -- unknown

_____________________________

Numerous anti-crime bills are among a host of new laws scheduled to take effect on July 1.  The General Assembly passed several bills cracking down on illegal drugs, sex offenders, gang violence, terrorism, and domestic violence before adjourning the 2011 legislative session that will take effect as the new month begins, as well as two key bills dealing with the court process.

“We made significant progress in attacking crime this year,” said Senate Judiciary Chairman Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet), whose Committee hears legislation dealing with crime, corrections and the court process.  “We passed several major public safety initiatives that will take effect in July, including legislation to fight meth use in our state and new laws to tip the scales towards the side of justice for victims of crime.” - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1171603708

Key anti-drug bills passed this year includes a new law sponsored by Senator Beavers that stiffens penalties for making methamphetamines in the presence of a child and implements a statewide electronic tracking system to curb meth production in the state.  The bill also sets amounts of pseudoephedrine that can be purchased and strengthens penalties against those convicted of smurfing, or shopping for the product in multiple locations.  Although the bill takes effect on July 1, pharmacies have until January 1, 2012 to connect to the system.  - [THIS BILL WILL MAKE PHARMACEUTICALS MORE EXPENSIVE DUE TO THE INCREASED COST BURDEN PLACED UPON PHARMACIES AND DRUG COMPANIES WHICH WILL BE PASSED ON TO CUSTOMERS]

A separate bill, sponsored by Senator Dolores Gresham (R-Somerville), which takes effect on July 1, ensures that those who shop in multiple counties for meth precursors can be appropriately prosecuted for the crime in any county where the purchase was made.  Another measure, sponsored by Senator Jim Tracy (R-Shelbyville), gives consumers important health information regarding vehicles which has been used in the manufacture of methamphetamines.
Drug felons will find it more difficult to get welfare benefits under a bill passed this year and which takes effect on July 1.  The new law, sponsored by Senator Tracy, prohibits an adult convicted of a felony for possession, use, or distribution of a controlled substance from being eligible to receive Families First program benefits.  The new law applies to welfare recipients convicted on or after July 1, 2011 and extends for a period of three years unless the individual receives treatment for substance abuse.

Major legislation, sponsored by Senator Ken Yager (R-Harriman), is set to take effect on July 1 eliminating pretrial diversion for the most dangerous criminals in Tennessee.  No felony crimes would be eligible for pre-trial diversion under the legislation. "The new law centers on defendant accountability in the judicial system and also speaks to the constitutional rights of victims to have their voices heard,” said Senator Yager.  “Under previous law, victims had no voice in a pre-trial diversion situation.” the court process was also the focus of a new law which will be enacted into law on July 1, which is known as the “common sense” or “good faith exception” to the “exclusionary rule” regarding suppression of evidence under the fourth amendment, or unreasonable search and seizure.  The new law allows a judge to give a jury access to evidence or facts obtained as a result of a search or seizure which contains a minor technical error. “This new law attempts to balance the scales of justice to a standard embraced by the U.S. Supreme Court in United States v. Leon and Herring v. United States to allow the judge and jury to weigh all the facts and still administer justice in an objective manner,” said Senator Randy McNally (R-Oak Ridge), who sponsored the bill. -  [IF THE GOVERNMENT SCREWS UP ITS POLICE WORK NORMALLY THAT EVIDENCE IS THROWN OUT OF COURT. ACCORDING TO THIS NEW LAW THE TENNESSEE GOVERNMENT WILL NOW BE ALLOWED TO MAKE ERRORS WHICH WILL REMOVE THEIR INCENTIVE TO CARRY OUT PROPER AND LAWFUL INVESTIGATIONS]

In other crime-related action, legislation is set to take effect to ensure that random killings, like that of the “Beltway Sniper,” are subject to the death penalty in Tennessee.  The bill, sponsored by Senator Mike Bell (R-Riceville) adds “murder at random” to the list of statutory aggravating circumstances for the purpose of sentencing.

In legislation combating gang violence, a new law takes effect on July 1 which authorizes judges to allow a district attorney to use a wiretap when the interception may provide evidence of criminal gang-related activities in aggravated burglaries. This legislation, sponsored by Senator Doug Overbey (R-Marvyille), adds home invasions to the list of gang-related activities where a wiretap may be authorized.

The legislature passed an anti-terrorism bill due to take effect on July 1 that updates and strengthens the Tennessee Terrorism Prevention Act that was passed shortly after the 9-11 terrorist attacks.  The “Material Support to Designated Entities Act of 2011,” sponsored by Senator Bill Ketron (R-Murfreesboro) makes the provision of “material support” a Class A felony and helps to close the prevention gap left by the 2002 statute. - [THERE ARE TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS BILL TO LIST. HOWEVER IT ALLOWS THE GOVERNMENT TO PERSECUTE INDIVIDUALS BASED UPON ASSOCIATION AND RELIGION] http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB1028

Domestic violence legislation, sponsored by Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Jamie Woodson (R-Knoxville), takes effect on July 1 defining and clarifying the crime of attempted strangulation.  The new law provides clarity regarding this lethal force, which is one of the best predictors of future homicide in domestic violence cases.

Several bills are set to take effect in July strengthening penalties against sex offenders, including:

A bill sponsored by Senator Overbey to ensure that law enforcement officers posing as minors can be used to prosecute cases where sexual predators use electronic means to solicit those under the age of 18. - [OTHERWISE KNOWN AS BAITING OR ENTRAPMENT?]

A bill sponsored by Senator Brian Kelsey (R-Germantown) to add juveniles convicted of the most violent sexual offenses to the state’s Sex Offender Registry. [DON'T KIDS GET A CLEAN SLATE ONCE THEY TURN 18?]

Legislation sponsored by Senator Tracy to ensure that an adult authority figure who has inappropriate sexual contact with a minor child by touching or kissing the child on the lips, is held accountable for his or her actions. - [PARENTS CAN NOW GO TO JAIL FOR KISSING THEIR CHILDREN ON THE LIPS IF THE GOVERNMENT THINKS THERE IS SEXUAL 'INTENT'?] - http://state.tn.us/sos/acts/107/pub/pc0088.pdf

“Some of these anti-crime bills had been pending for many years,” added Beavers.  “I am very pleased with the legislation passed this year, especially considering tight budget constraints we faced.” - http://www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/members/s17.html

Sen Corker Tries To Co-Opt Tea Party In TN

According to this article Senator Corker (known to many as "Bailout Bob") is attempting to co-opt the Tea Party in Tennessee:
http://nashvillecitypaper.com/content/city-news/tennessee-tea-party-members-now-sing-bob-corkers-praises

The worst part is that one of the tea party "leaders" is going along with it!!!

Apparently some in the tea party must've forgotten about Senator Corker's poor voting record which can be seen at this link:
http://mickeywhite.blogspot.com/2010/12/senator-bob-corker-voted-poorly.html

In fact it looks like a few of the tea party leaders are selling out for access and perceived power when they are really just falling into what's known as "the access trap". Instead of delivering to the politician the demands from the grassroots to pass or defeat specific legislation, they are becoming the politician’s representative, telling grassroots activists what they must settle for. This is common among those who are unwilling to apply the necessary pressure on the politicians who continually infringe upon our liberty. The sad part is that the grassroots activists who fall for the "access trap" usually don't realize they are being used by the politician they are warming up to in the process of becoming their errand boy.

Could it be any more clear? Take a step back and look!

Here we have one of the most big-government Republican Senators in the nation running for re-election and a self-proclaimed leader of the tea party is not only doing his bidding but actively campaigning for him by discouraging others to run against him. Talk about rewarding bad behavior. The Senator is shoveling it and people who claim to be against unconstitutional big-government are buying it. This is a sad day in Tennessee for those who want less government because it indicates the downfall of the tea party.

If you consider yourself part of the "tea party" in Tennessee please contact Mid-South Tea Party "leader" Mark Skoda and tell him what you think about his comments in the above article:

Sens. Corker & Alexander STEAL Land From TN and Give It To The Feds

"U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker are once again asking Congress to add nearly 20,000 acres of wilderness in East Tennessee to the Cherokee National Forest.

The two Tennessee Republicans recently refiled legislation that would expand the amount of federally designated wilderness in the national forest to about 86,000 acres. If approved, the change would mark the first time the forest's wilderness areas have been expanded in a quarter-century."

Stop REAL ID in TN

Attention all Freedom and Liberty Loving Tennesseans-

The REAL ID ACT is up for vote on Tuesday 5/3/11 at 3pm. This would force Tennesseans to carry a National ID card with Biometric Technology and an RFID chip with your private information. CONTACT THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS BELOW AND TELL THEM TO VOTE YES ON HB1874 TO NULLIFY THE FEDERAL REAL-ID ACT.

See this video from TN Representative Frank Niceley about the evils of the REAL-ID act:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OSnMGradyQ&feature=player_embedded

This would be a severe blow to the 1st, 4th, and 10th Amendment, not to mention another example of a Tyrannical Federal Govt. dictating how the States issue Driver's Licenses.

Without this new National ID you could not enter a Federal Building, drive a car, or board an airplane.

For those unfamiliar with the REAL ID ACT, please see the link below for an interview and various videos detailing the insidious REAL ID ACT:
http://www.tennesseesonsofliberty.com/2011/04/stop-real-id-act-in-tennessee.html

You can prevent this from happening in Tennessee.. I spoke with State Representative Frank Niceley who assured me that the Committee will cave if they receive enough emails and phone calls opposing the REAL ID ACT.

Please call and email all members of the Transportation Committee... In the email title clearly state that you are against the REAL ID.

Republican Gov. Bill Haslam and Republican Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey are working against a bill that would allow faculty and staff to carry guns on the campuses of Tennessee's government universities... TN Republicans vote for MORE DEBT!!!

http://deeweesworld.com/mediac/400_0/media/under_construction.jpg
Every Republican US Congressman in TN voted for a big-government budget plan proposed by fellow Representative Paul Ryan last week.
See their vote and the vote of others: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll277.xml

This plan has been touted as a great budget plan because it "eventually" fixes the budget, but here are the facts contained in this plan:

- They voted for 10 more years of deficit spending
- They voted to add between $5-11 TRILLION dollars to the national debt
- They voted to spend a total of $40 TRILLION over the next 10 years
- This plan will REQUIRE the debt ceiling to be raised
- By voting for this they voted for an obviously unbalanced budget (in fact it doesn't fully balance until the year 2040)
- They actually voted to continue to increase spending over the next few years (it merely slows the rate of spending, not actually cutting spending anytime soon)
- They voted for a budget that was bigger than what we had under Bill Clinton

ARE THEY SERIOUS?!?!

Do they think that we are so dumb that we won't see through this?

Are you going to buy what they are shoveling?

E-mail them and ask why they voted for more debt, deficits, and spending last week:

Governor Haslam Raises Salaries For Govt Employees

Governor Bill Haslam of TN has raised government employees salaries, some up to $150,000-$200,000 (or 11%)!!!!!
All of this while the State is facing a budget crisis and a depressed economy.

WHAT IS CONSERVATIVE ABOUT THAT?!?!

He tried to sneak this in by an "Executive Order" but fortunately it was discovered by the Associated Press last week. Here are links to the stories with more details:

http://www.bizjournals.com/memphis/blog/morning_call/2011/04/haslam-boosts-commissioners-salaries.html

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9MED1G80.htm

Is this fair?
Is this moral that those of us have to work for our money are having it stolen by the government to have it given to overpaid government employees?
This sounds like a form of plunder as 19th century philosopher Frederic Bastiat described in his short essay, "The Law": http://mises.org/resources/2731

TN Republican Senator says “ignore the Constitution”

TN Republican lawyer Senator Overbey recently told his fellow state Senators "DON'T use the Constitution as a means for voting for this bill"

What was the bill?

It was the bill that forces the TN government to adhere to the TN Constitution (SB0127) by electing TN Supreme Court judges instead of appointing them by the Governor.

Senator Overbey wants elected officials to rely on what the Supreme Court says about the Constitution to make their decisions instead of what the Constitution actually says. Apparently Senator Overbey thinks the Constitution is a 'living breathing document' that is subject to the whims of 'interpretation'; Alexander Hamilton would be proud.

Article VI Section 3 of the Tennessee Constitution states: "The judges of the Supreme Court shall be elected by the qualified voters of the state." -- http://www.tncrimlaw.com/law/constit/index.html

Watch the video of Senator Overbey pleading for everyone to ignore the Constitution at this link:
http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=196&clip_id=3909
(skip forward to time index of around 2:15:35)

This blatant disregard for the Constitution is appalling and should NOT be tolerated!!!

This bill removes the present law provisions regarding the nomination, appointment, and performance evaluation of appellate and supreme court judges and instead requires the election of all judges. Generally, under present law, trial court judges are elected but appellate or supreme court judges are appointed by the Governor, after being nominated by the judicial selection commission.

One political expert noted that "this an admission [by Senator Overbey] that he knows full well the present method of judge "election" is contrary to the Tenn Constitution, and he is suggesting that the rest of the Senate join him in collectively violating their oath of office by ignoring the language of the Constitution. Next I suppose he will argue that all elections should be conducted in the same manner"

Here is the link to the bill itself:
http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=SB0127

If you disagree with Senator Overbey's argument that elected officials should ignore the Constitution and instead rely upon court rulings instead, please contact him and let him know!!!

Gov. Haslam praises President Obama; maybe following his orders!

Governor Haslam

TN Governor Bill Haslam supports President Obama's education plan!!!

Read the Governor's confession of his love for the President's unconstitutional and big-government plan for Tennessee schools:
http://nashvillepost.com/blogs/postpolitics/2011/3/24/the_gov_backs_potus_on_education

What's even more appalling is that Obama's Education Secretary has been talking to Governor Haslam "weekly" since he took office. This infers that Governor Haslam is taking instructions from President Obama! Perhaps this is why Governor Haslam recently compromised on the recent teachers union bill? http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/mar/19/haslam-backs-union-compromise/

Why does a Republican Governor support a Democrat's federal education plan?
Why is Governor Haslam talking to President Obama's administration so often about education?
Where in the Constitution does the federal government receive any power over the issue of education?
Why should the federal government have any say in how Tennessee schools are run or how Tennesseans educate their children?

If you share these questions why don't you e-mail Governor Haslam and ask him!

Lt. Gov Ron Ramsey + Obama working together!!!

Why is Republican Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey working to bring President Obama's big-government policies to Tennessee?

Ramsey works for Obama?

=

Obama

Why is Republican Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey working to bring President Obama's big-government policies to Tennessee?

You won't believe it, Ron Ramsey continues to disappoint conservatives...

President Obama has a statist plan for a national DNA database, and Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is working on implementing Obama's plan!

That's right, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is working to bring Obama's national DNA database to TN by sponsoring SB0257, a bill which would require DNA to be forcefully taken from innocent people (maybe even you)!

In an interview a year ago President Obama outlines his plan for an Orwellian style nationwide DNA database. You can listen to President Obama's own voice describing the scheme here:  http://tncampaignforliberty.org/misc/Obama-on-DNA.mp3

Why is Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey siding with the liberal authoritarian President Obama in stealing DNA from innocent people?

Here is a good synopsis of the interview of President Obama's DNA database plan:
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/03/obama-supports-dna-sampling-upon-arrest/

If you are wondering why a national DNA database is a bad idea, watch this brief news clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCa9-AmfLi8

And in case you didn't catch it, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey was caught lying about the plan for a DNA database in TN in a recent Phil Valentine interview:

CONTACT Lt. GOVERNOR RON RAMSEY AND TELL HIM TO QUIT HELPING OBAMA AND TELL HIM TO PULL HIS DNA-GRABBING BILL SB0257!!!

Keep up the pressure, it's the only way to ensure this bill gets killed. If you've emailed or called before, then call and e-mail again. Continue to do it until he caves in.

Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey has just been caught lying in a radio interview!

Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey has just been caught lying in a radio interview!

In an interview last week, with Nashville talk show host Phil Valentine on 99.7 WTN, referring to his DNA-grabbing bill the Lt. Governor said:
"you have to be convicted, you have to be charged, you have to have probable cause on these crimes before your DNA is taken and run... to see if you are guilty"

RON RAMSEY JUST TOLD A BALD FACED LIE!!!

How so?

Present law requires that a biological specimen taken for the purpose of DNA analysis be taken by the arresting authority from any person who is arrested for the commission of a violent felony [prior to conviction]... Under [Ron Ramsey's new] bill, if a person is arrested on or after January 1, 2012, and charged with the commission of [any] felony, the person must have a biological specimen taken for the purpose of DNA analysis [prior to conviction]. SOURCE: Legislative summary for Ron Ramsey's DNA-grabbing bill: http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/billinfo/BillSummaryArchive.aspx?BillNumber=SB0257&ga=107

So no, you don't have to be convicted before the government can steal your DNA contrary to what Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey said.

BUT WAIT --  THERE IS MORE

Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey also tells a second lie in the same interview!

He continues to say that:
"when I passed the bill three years ago [to take DNA of only those arrested for violent felonies].... this [new bill] is exactly the same bill that we passed, except this does expand it to a few more felonies than what we had, that's all it does."

THIS TIME RON RAMSEY TELLS A 'LIE OF OMISSION'!!!

How so?

This new bill that Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey has introduced expands the power of the government to steal your DNA for all felony arrests, not just "a few" as he attempted to lie about. He is trying to pass this off as only requiring DNA from "a few" felony arrests even though his new bill would require the government to take DNA from "all" felony arrests.

But don't take our word for it, listen with your own ears to Lt Governor Ron Ramsey lie in his own voice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFgRDbN0tpQ

We don't trust the politicians and their government to tell us the truth because most of the time they don't. Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is a perfect example of someone who tried to pass themselves off as "conservative" or "a Tea Partier" but in reality he is just as bad as the lying big-government Democrats he claims to oppose. To be fair though, maybe it's possible the Lt. Governor wasn't lying to Phil Valentine and the rest of Tennessee but he simply was ignorant of the facts? Maybe it could be that he is so uninformed and incompetent that he doesn't understand the process enough to be able to accurately explain it to others? Maybe he doesn't really know what's in his own bill that he submitted? Or maybe he's just a liar. In either case, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is a dangerous and untrustworthy man!

If you don't like being lied to...
If you think your elected officials should be more upstanding than Ron Ramsey...
If you don't want the government to steal DNA from innocent people (possibly even your DNA)...
If you want to hold your elected officials accountable to their words and actions...

THEN CONTACT Lt. GOVERNOR RON RAMSEY, SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS, AND TELL HIM TO PULL HIS DNA-GRABBING BILL SB0257!!!
